Amphoras.....

Amphora - an ancient vessel with two handles and a narrow neck; used to hold oil or wine.

Louise Despont is a Brooklyn, New York based artist, mainly illustrator, but I came across her page and her detailed graphite drawings done on antique ledger pages. One piece entitled Amphoras, which caught my eye. After doing the Pot, Vessel, Object project earlier in the semister I have it embedded in me to take in how people interpret shapes and the meaning of a vessel etc.

Despont draws 10 amphoras in completely different and very unique ways. I found it quite interesting to view all these varations of an amphora........ it''s pretty much a method of problem solving.... just her drawings are finely detailed!

Her website is full of complex drawings! http://www.louisedespont.com/Work/2011/
